Terms of Service

Effective 2026-01-01 · last reviewed 2026-10-05 · video-encoding-hub.org

These terms govern your use of video-encoding-hub.org. By reading or otherwise using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

The site is operated by Northline Media Engineering LLC, 1420 Harbor Point Drive, Suite 210, Portland, OR 97209, United States. References to "we", "us" and "our" mean that company. References to "the site" mean the publication published under the domain video-encoding-hub.org.

Purpose of the site

The site is an independent technical publication that explains video compression, codec architecture and bitrate optimisation. It provides analysis and information only. It does not provide engineering services under these terms, and it does not supply, distribute or host software of any kind. Nothing on the site is an offer to provide a program, and no page should be read as a route to obtaining one.

Acceptable use

You may read, quote and link to the site for personal, educational and professional purposes. You may not attempt to disrupt the site, to gain unauthorised access to its infrastructure, to scrape it at a volume that degrades service for others, or to misrepresent its content as official guidance from any software project or vendor. You may not use the site to further any activity that infringes rights or breaks the law.

Intellectual property

The original text, layout and graphics of the site are the property of the publisher and are protected by copyright. Product names, logos and trademarks mentioned in analysis are the property of their respective owners, and their use here is for identification and analysis only, without implying sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation. Brief quotation with attribution and a link is welcome. Substantial reproduction requires written permission from the editorial desk.

No warranty

Technical content is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Compression results depend on source material, hardware, software versions and delivery targets that we cannot control. We make no promise that any setting, parameter or recommendation will produce a particular outcome on your material. You are responsible for testing any recommendation before relying on it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the specific content in question or one hundred United States dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case the excluded terms do not apply to you.

Third-party references

Analysis pages discuss tools, standards and vendors by name so that readers can identify what is being compared. We do not control those third parties, we do not speak for them, and a reference is not a recommendation to acquire anything. External material is not hosted here and is not covered by these terms.

Changes

We may revise these terms. Material changes are reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions about these terms go to [email protected] or by post to the address above.
